Barcelona Airport Transfers & Taxis
Taxis at Barcelona operate twenty-four hours a day. The taxi ranks are well signposted and located directly outside the arrivals hall at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 A, B and C. You should only use the official taxis which. These are easy to spot in their distinctive yellow and black livery.
All official vehicles have a taximeter and the rates are set by the government. Many taxis can now take payment by credit or debit card as well as cash. However, if you need to pay by card, check with the driver before getting in to ensure they can accept card payments.
It is always advisable to ask for a printed receipt which will show the fare, the start and finish points of the journey, the date, the driver’s licence number and the vehicle registration. This is especially useful if you have a complaint or you leave something in the taxi.
For persons of reduced mobility there are modified taxis available with wheelchair access and/or wider doors with steps. For details of how to request this service click here.
To take a taxi to the airport, or other destinations, you are never far from one as there are 274 taxi ranks in the Barcelona Metropolitan area. You can hail a taxi on the street (they show a green light when they are available), but they will only stop if it is safe to do so. There are also taxi apps for your smart phone, some of which can be found here, and you can use these to book a cab.

Private or Shared Transfers
As an alternative option for getting from the airport to your home, hotel or holiday accommodation, private or shared transfers can be cheaper and more convenient. There are many operators in and around Barcelona who offer this service and a transfer can be booked online in advance. At the top of this page there is a comparison engine that compares price of most operators and allows you to book online.
The cheapest option is a shared transfer with which, as the name implies, the minibus or coach will have other passengers on board and might involve a number of stops on the way to your destination. Shared transfers will drop off at hotels and complexes, but generally, they will not take you to a private address.
A private transfer provides you with a suitable vehicle for the size of your party and you will receive a meet & greet service before being taken straight to your requested location. For a little extra luxury, you can book an executive vehicle with a personal chauffeur.
Transfer prices vary widely and depend on the size of the vehicle and your destination. A shared transfer will be a price per head whereas private transfers are usually priced for the journey.
By law the transfer drivers and vehicles must be licenced and they provide a safe and efficient way to travel.
